Yesterday afternoon, Lucy and I took a trip to Mount Dora to partake in The Food Truck Bazaar that comes from Orlando to smaller towns around the area—taking advantage of their mobility. We ran into an old friend from high school almost immediately which was cool and the weather behaved itself for the most part making for a nice evening. The last time I’ve really eaten at a food truck was back on our big trip across the country two years ago. There were almost too many options, though… I settled on some Vietnamese food at Saigon Sizzle and Lucy got a BBQ beef sandwich at Firehouse BBQ. After walking around a while longer, we made room to split a dessert—a s’mores crepe w/ nutella (the first time we’ve had nutella) from The Crepe Company.
Oh, and while I was trying to eat my dinner, a bee decided to land on my arm. I looked down, seeing him walk around, so I tried to stay still. He’d fly off for a second, giving me slight relief, only to land again and go up further until he landed on my face. Lucy wanted to swat it, so I calmly told her to just let him do his thing, as he crawled over my shut eye, through my eyelashes and up my forehead until he finally flew off for a second. Then we briskly walked away.
Can’t wait until next month’s roundup. More trucks, hopefully some cooler weather, and I have a feeling we’ll have a full car with people wanting to come along. If you’re interested in the other trucks in the shots below, here’s the round-up of everyone who came that evening: Big Wheel, Cafe Rouge, 5 Gastronomy, Fork in the Road, Swede Dish, Bem Bom, Twisted Cuban, Saigon Sizzle, Korean BBQ Box, Monsta Lobsta, The Crepe Company, Firehouse BBQ, Treehouse Truck, The Flattery, Dimples Delight, Ice Cream Social,The Batter Bowl, Yum Yum, and Cafe Cocoa Mo.
The drive back from Mount Dora to Ocala was breathtaking yesterday evening. We had to pull over a few times to get some shots of the setting sun, which never quite capture how it really looked. With the oncoming hurricane, the weather was slightly cooler and the bugs weren’t eating me alive in the fields. I can’t wait for autumn to get here.
